Ghufran's research focuses on exploring the molecular biology of stem cells, especially after ex vivo priming and genetic modification. His specific focus lies in the utilization of ex-vivo-expanded stem cells for treating challenging inflammatory diseases. In his Ph.D. dissertation, Ghufran explores the priming of mesenchymal stem cells with nutraceuticals, investigating whether such priming can amplify the therapeutic characteristics of MSCs and alleviate liver diseases in an animal model. So far, he has contributed to the scientific community with the publication of 13 research articles, with an impact factor of 56, a HI of 5, according to Google Scholar, and accumulating 136 citations by July 2024.
Presently, Ghufran serves as a Postdoc fellow at the AKU's Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research in Karachi, Pakistan.
