I am an Academic Foundation Doctor ('Clinical-Scientist') based in Oxford, UK with a combined career in medical training (pursuing a Cardiology residency) and research work in clinical trials and bioinformatics at the Nuffield Department of Population Health and Big Data Institute at Oxford University. 

I believe the current state of academic publishing is a drain on research funding, a drain on researchers' time and a drain on patients' life years.
