Interest in a career in nephrology has been declining.1 The ratio of candidates applying to nephrology fellowships per position has been less than 1 since 2016, with the lowest reaching 0.6 candidates per position.2 The reasons behind the decreased interest in nephrology have been explored mainly through surveys and interviews.3-7 Several factors such as difficulty of the subject, lack of role models, lack of exposure to the field and procedures, perception of low remuneration, and poor work-life balance are important contributors to why nephrology was not chosen.
