Zhou, Huang, Gao, and their colleagues from Fudan University reported a riboflavin/zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 microsphere composite that resembles the structure of hibiscus flowers, which was synthesized by low-dose regulated supramolecular self-assembly effect. This material was specifically designed to enhance the permeability of the corneal epithelium to facilitate corneal collagen crosslinking therapy, a treatment aimed at slowing or halting the progression of keratoconus.
