Numerical investigations are performed in nonthermal plasma to explore nonrelativistic electron dynamics in view of resonant energy transfer in laser–plasma interaction. Case of rippled density plasma and uniform density plasma is discussed in the presence of periodic electric field for matching of wave numbers to achieve resonance. The effect of external periodic electric field on resonance condition is to obtain multiple resonances which provide extra tool to tune wave numbers matching besides ripples periodicity in density rippled nonthermal plasma. Moreover, the efficiency of energy transfer is found to increase with plasma electron temperature for increased external electric field strength.
