Traditional breeding methods were the primary approach until the 20th century. Now, plant genome editing technologies offer a significant opportunity to modify specific genes linked to desired traits. This makes it possible to develop crop varieties with higher yields, resilient to changing harsh environments, resistance to pests and have the potential to accelerate crop development significantly.
