What is the most interesting paper that you’ve read in the past six months?

I am planning on putting together a SciShow style video series to try and drive brand awareness for ResearchHub. I am going to put together a single video to start with and see how it comes out, as well as gauge the time expenditures required to make this a regular project. I want to select between 3-5 papers, preferably across a variety of disciplines, for this first video. The format of the video is yet to be determined, although I’m mulling around a few options, to be discussed in another post.

I am looking for papers that are either interesting due to their surprising findings, novel techniques, or similar features. I want to avoid reviews, and would prefer to avoid meta-analyses although I will consider them. Ideally, the paper should be an experiment.
