As their cognitive and emotional capacities mature, individuals begin to cultivate an ability to understand and share the feelings of others, commonly referred to as empathy.

Adolescence: The period of adolescence is characterized by significant emotional transformation. In various experimental settings, it has been observed that exposure to cold temperatures tends to have a negative impact on cognitive performance in the aforementioned domains. It is noteworthy to mention that the diminishment of cognitive functioning may transpire prior to the onset of accidental hypothermia. In response to a cold environment, the human body activates a range of physiological mechanisms to regulate its temperature, including shivering, inhibition of sweating, and skin vasoconstriction. The regulation of these responses is governed by the temperature-regulating centers located in the hypothalamus, as well as the temperature receptors present in the skin. Furthermore, there is a form of temperature regulation through behavioral means, wherein individuals respond to cold discomfort by donning insulated clothing or seeking refuge [66].

In the context of intentional exposure to cold for the purposes of enhancing health and performance, there exist specific factors that warrant attention.
