Persistent Homology and String Vacua
Michele Cirafici
et al.
Dec 3, 2015
We use methods from topological data analysis to study the topologicalfeatures of certain distributions of string vacua. Topological data analysis isa multi-scale approach used to analyze the topological features of a dataset byidentifying which homological characteristics persist over a long range ofscales. We apply these techniques in several contexts. We analyze N=2 vacua byfocusing on certain distributions of Calabi-Yau varieties and Landau-Ginzburgmodels. We then turn to flux compactifications and discuss how we can usetopological data analysis to extract physical informations. Finally we applythese techniques to certain phenomenologically realistic heterotic models. Wediscuss the possibility of characterizing string vacua using the topologicalproperties of their distributions.

Electron-to-Tau Lepton Flavor Violation at the Electron-Ion Collider
Atle Engebø
et al.
Jun 25, 2010
We analyze the potential sensitivity of a search for $e\rightarrow\tau$conversion at a proposed electron-ion collider (EIC) facility. To that end, wecalculate the cross sections for $e\rightarrow\tau$ events in a leptoquarkframework assuming that the leptoquark masses are on the order of severalhundred GeV or more. Given present limits on leptoquarks from direct searchesat HERA and rare decay processes, an EIC sensitive to 0.1 fb $e\rightarrow\tau$cross sections could probe previously unexplored regions of parameter space forthese lepton flavor violating events (assuming 90 GeV center-of-mass energy and10 fb$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity). Depending on the species of leptoquark andflavor structure of the couplings, an EIC search could surpass the HERA andrare process sensitivity to $e\rightarrow\tau$ conversion amplitudes by as muchas an order of magnitude or more. We also derive updated limits on quarkflavor-diagonal LFV leptoquark interactions using the most recent BaBar$\tau\rightarrow e\gamma$ search. We find that limits from an EIC$e\rightarrow\tau$ search could be competitive with the most recent$\tau\rightarrow e\gamma$ limit for a subset of the quark flavor-diagonalleptoquark couplings. Using an SU(5) GUT model in which leptoquark couplingsare constrained by the neutrino masses and mixing, we illustrate how observableleptoquark-induced $e\rightarrow\tau$ conversion can be consistent withstringent LFV limits imposed by $\mu\rightarrow e\gamma$ and $\mu\rightarrow e$conversion searches.

(De)Constructing a Natural and Flavorful Supersymmetric Standard Model
Atle Engebø
et al.
Mar 18, 2011
Using the framework of deconstruction, we construct simple, weakly-coupledsupersymmetric models that explain the Standard Model flavor hierarchy andproduce a flavorful soft spectrum compatible with precision limits. Electroweaksymmetry breaking is fully natural; the mu-term is dynamically generated withno B mu-problem and the Higgs mass is easily raised above LEP limits withoutreliance on large radiative corrections. These models possess the distinctivespectrum of superpartners characteristic of "effective supersymmetry": thethird generation superpartners tend to be light, while the rest of the scalarsare heavy.

$CP$ violating mode of the stoponium decay into $Zh$
Ahmed Senouci
et al.
Apr 17, 2018
We show that a novel decay mode $Zh$ of the bound state of stop-anti-stoppair in the ground state $^1S_0(\widetilde t_1\widetilde t_1^*)$ may have asignificant branching ratio if the $CP$ violating mixing appears in the stopsector, even after we apply the stringent constraint from the measurement ofthe electric dipole moment (EDM) of the electron. We show that the branchingratio can be as large as 10% in some parameter space that it may be detectableat the LHC.
