We present a general formalism able to derive the kinetic equations ofpolymer dynamics. It is based on the application of nonequilibriumthermodynamics to analyze the irreversible processes taking place in theconformational space of the macromolecules. The Smoluchowski equation resultsfrom the analysis of the underlying diffusion process in that space within thescheme of nonequilibrium thermodynamics. We apply the method to differentsituations, concerning flexible, semiflexible and rod-like polymers and to thecase of more concentrated solutions in which interactions become important.

We present a new solution in the heterotic M-theory in which the metricdepends on (cosmic) time. The solution preserves N=1 supersymmetry in 4dimensions in the leading order of the $\kappa^{2/3}$ expansion. It is thefirst example of the time-dependent supersymmetric solution in M-theory on$S^1/Z_2$. It describes expanding 4-dimensional space-time with shrinkingorientifold interval and static Calabi-Yau internal space.

We extend a result of to Esnault-Levine-Viehweg concerning the Chow groups ofhypersurfaces in projective space to those in weighted projective spaces.

We review recent results on QCD at finite temperature. Main emphasis is puton a discussion of observables which are of immediate interest to experimentalsearches for the Quark Gluon Plasma, i.e. the phase transition temperature, theequation of state in 2 and 3-flavour QCD, the heavy quark free energy andthermal effects on hadron masses.

The program package XLOOPS calculates massive one- and two-loop Feynmandiagrams. It consists of five parts: i) a graphical user interface ii) routines for generating diagrams from particle input iii) procedures for calculating one-loop integrals both analytically andnumerically iv) routines for massive two-loop integrals v) programs for numerical integration of two-loop diagrams. The packagerelies on the application of parallel space techniques. The treatment of tensorstructure and the separation of UV and IR divergences in analytic expressionsis described in this scheme. All analytic calculations are performed withMAPLE. Two-loop examples taken from Standard Model calculations are presented.The method has recently been extended to all two-loop vertex topologies,including the crossed topology, graphs with divergent subloops and IR divergentdiagrams. This will be included in the XLOOPS package in the near future.

According to the standard lore only single monopoles contribute to thesuperpotential on the Coulomb branch of 3D ${\mathcal N}=2$ SUSY gaugetheories. However we argue that multi-monopole configurations can also generatesuperpotential terms in the presence of squark VEVs on the mixed Higgs-Coulombbranch. The new ingredient is the confinement of monopoles via Nielsen-Olesenflux tubes. Such confined multi-monopoles will yield a pre-ADS superpotentialwhich depends both on the local Coulomb moduli and matter superfields but hasno fractional powers. Once the lifted moduli are integrated out the familiarADS superpotential is obtained. Our results demonstrate the important rolemulti-monopoles can play in generating non-perturbative effects and also shedslight on the still somewhat mysterious dynamical origin of the general 4D ADSsuperpotential.
