Hello, I’m Gherardo Baudo, a postdoctoral fellow with a Ph.D. in Nanomedicine. I specialize in drug delivery, particularly focusing on biomimetic lipid nanoparticles that encapsulate mRNA and drugs. My research spans diverse medical realms, including osteosarcoma, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases. Recognized as an expert in mitochondria transplantation, I employ this innovative strategy to address various cardiovascular conditions such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), atherosclerosis, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Currently, my research is dedicated to advancing our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and exploring novel approaches for its treatment. With a comprehensive background in nanomedicine and a proven track record in translational research, I am committed to making significant contributions to the field of medical science.

Bahjat Fadi Marayati is an mRNA Process Development Scientist in the DHVI GMP Program. Prior to joining DHVI, Bahjat Fadi completed his post-doctoral training in Kate Meyer’s lab in the department of Biochemistry at Duke University School of Medicine, where he focused on building new tools to understand RNA modifications and developed the first real-time genetically encoded RNA modification sensor. This technology was recently published in Nature Biotechnology and was featured as a research highlight in Nature Chemical Biology. Bahjat Fadi earned his PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Wake Forest University, where he explored the field of Epigenetics at the intersection of RNA regulation and chromatin organization, and was awarded the Outstanding graduate student award upon graduation. Bahjat Fadi moved to North Carolina in 2012 from Beirut, Lebanon, where he received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the American University of Beirut. He is an active member and served on the Junior Scientists committee of the International RNA Society.
