A search for heavy Majorana neutrinos in events containing a pair ofhigh-$p_{\mathrm{T}}$ leptons of the same charge and high-$p_{\mathrm{T}}$ jetsis presented. The search uses $20.3 \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision datacollected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with acentre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV. The data are found to beconsistent with the background-only hypothesis based on the Standard Modelexpectation. In the context of a Type-I seesaw mechanism, limits are set on theproduction cross-section times branching ratio for production of heavy Majorananeutrinos in the mass range between 100 and 500 GeV. The limits aresubsequently interpreted as limits on the mixing between the heavy Majorananeutrinos and the Standard Model neutrinos. In the context of a left-rightsymmetric model, limits on the production cross-section times branching ratioare set with respect to the masses of heavy Majorana neutrinos and heavy gaugebosons $W_{\mathrm{R}}$ and $Z'$.

The holographic duals of higher spin theories on AdS_3 are described by thelarge N limit of a family of minimal model CFTs, whose symmetry algebra isequivalent to W(infinity)[lambda]. We study perturbations of these limittheories, and show that they possess a marginal symmetry-preservingperturbation that describes switching on the 1/N corrections. We also test ourgeneral results for the specific cases of lambda=0,1, where free fieldrealisations are available.

The four point function of Conformal Field Theories (CFT's) with globalsymmetry gives rise to multiple crossing symmetry constraints. We explicitlystudy the correlator of four scalar operators transforming in the fundamentalrepresentation of a global SO(N) and the correlator of chiral and anti-chiralsuperfields in a superconformal field theory. In both cases the constraintstake the form of a triple sum rule, whose feasibility can be translated intorestrictions on the CFT spectrum and interactions. In the case of SO(N) globalsymmetry we derive bounds for the first scalar singlet operator entering theOperator Product Expansion (OPE) of two fundamental representations fordifferent value of N. Bounds for the first scalar traceless-symmetricrepresentation of the global symmetry are computed as well. Results forsuperconformal field theories improve previous investigations due to the use ofthe full set of constraints. Our analysis only assumes unitarity of the CFT,crossing symmetry of the four point function and existence of an OPE forscalars.

In the fuzzball paradigm the information paradox is resolved because theblack hole is replaced by an object with no horizon. One may therefore ask ifobservations can distinguish a traditional hole from a fuzzball. We find: (a)It is very difficult to reflect quanta off the surface of a fuzzball, mainlybecause geodesics starting near the horizon radius cannot escape to infinityunless their starting direction is very close to radial. (b) If infallingparticles interact with the emerging radiation before they are engulfed by thehorizon, then we say that we have a `firewall behavior'. We consider severaltypes of interactions, but find no evidence for firewall behavior in any theorythat obeys causality. (c) Photons with wavelengths {\it larger} than the blackhole radius can be scattered off the emerging radiation, but a very smallfraction of the backscattered photons will be able to escape back to infinity.
